InnerLife is an ambitious and unsusual independent project that will leverage Second Life as a platform for biofeedback games. Biofeedback is derived from biological data such as heart rate, skin conductivity, and brainwaves; hardware devices are used to measure and present the data. Biofeedback games use the human body as the game controller--for example, one's heart rate might control the speed at which a game character runs. The purpose of such games is to facilitate healthy physical and/or mental states.

InnerLife inventor Elizabeth Dalton proposes to bring multiplayer gaming to the biofeedback space, since to date only single-player games have been produced, such as The Journey to Wild Divine and MindSurfer games. InnerLife will likely intitially support a simple skin conductivity level sensor, but has plans to include heart rate and brainwave monitors if possible. Dalton is currently seeking group members. Second Life's CEO Philip Rosedale, an owner of the WildDivine biofeedback controller, has expressed casual interest in the project's success.
